  1. Tottenham 0-2 Manchester City: Key statspublished at 22:10

    • Manchester City will sit top of the Premier League table heading into the final day of the season for the sixth time in the last seven seasons (exception 2019-20), going on to win the title in each of those previous campaigns.

    • City are now unbeaten in 22 consecutive Premier League games (W18 D4), including all 18 in 2024 (W15 D3). The last two teams to make as long an unbeaten start to a calendar year failed to go on to win the title in that same year (Liverpool in 2022 – 2nd and Chelsea in 2008 – 2nd).

    • None of Tottenham’s 19 home league games finished as a draw this season (W13 L6) - It is the first time in their history that they have not drawn at home in a league campaign.

    • Tottenham are now guaranteed to finish outside of the top four positions in the Premier League for the fourth time in the last five seasons, after finishing in the Champions League spots in each of Mauricio Pochettino’s final four full campaigns in charge (2015-16 - 2018-19).

    • Erling Haaland’s opener was the first goal Manchester City have scored in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with what was their 79th shot at the venue. It was the Citizens’ first away league goal against Spurs since Riyad Mahrez netted at Wembley Stadium in October 2018.

    • Kevin De Bruyne has assisted Erling Haaland 12 times in the Premier League since the beginning of last season - at least four more times than any other player has for a teammate in the competition.

    • De Bruyne has now recorded 10+ assists in six different Premier League seasons, the joint-most times alongside Cesc Fabregas; the Belgian (112) also moved ahead of the Spaniard into outright second for most assists in the competition’s history, behind only Ryan Giggs (162).

Manchester City moved to within one win of a historic fourth successive Premier League title with victory at Tottenham.

Erling Haaland's second-half double settled a tight encounter in which Spurs' hopes of a top-four finish ended, and sent Aston Villa into the Champions League for the first time next season.

Pep Guardiola's reigning champions will now lift the crown again if they beat West Ham United at Etihad Stadium on Sunday (16:00 BST).

  3. Tottenham v Man City: Sutton's predictionpublished at 12:56

    Sutton's predictionsImage source, BBC Sport

BBC pundit Chris Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League matches again this season, against a variety of guests.

For Tuesday's crucial game in the title race between Tottenham and defending champions Manchester City, which was postponed from week 34 because of the FA Cup semi-finals, he takes on singer-songwriter and Arsenal fan Sam Tompkins.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-3

City fans will point out that they have a poor record at Tottenham's new stadium, where they won in the FA Cup in January but have not scored in any of their four visits in the Premier League, despite having a total of 74 shots.

But I don't see any jeopardy for City here. They are too good for everyone, and they are just a machine when it comes to getting results when it matters.

If Arsenal were in their situation, going into the games City have this week, I'd be a lot less confident. You'd think 'well, you never know', but because City have been there and done it so many times before, I just don't see them slipping up. That's why I don't think anyone other than City fans are that excited about this game, or the title race.

I've seen enough of Ange Postecoglou's teams to know what Tottenham could do if they click, but they have been inconsistent recently and I don't sense they will be at their best here.

With what's at stake for City, and they way they have put their foot down in the past few weeks, I feel like they will always be in control of this game. I fancy them strongly to win, and it should be pretty comfortable.

    Sam's prediction: 0-5

  4. 'Can you imagine what he is going to be like in a year?'published at 12:03

Josko Gvardiol celebrates goal at Craven CottageImage source, Getty Images

After scoring his fourth goal in five Premier League games, presenter Natalie Pike has been discussing in-form Josko Gvardiol on the We're Not Really Here podcast: "Everyone was so unbelievably excited when we signed Josko Gvardiol because you remembered him from the World Cup.

"He came with a big price tag and a lot of expectation and I think it probably took him about six months to settle in. He is well and truly settled in now."

BBC Radio Manchester commentator Mike Minay said: "You forget the price tag and that shows how good a player is.

"When Jack Grealish came to Manchester City that first season wasn't the Jack Grealish that we know now so everyone brings up the £100m in that first season. No one talks about that now because he has proved himself over the past two years.

"Josko Gvardiol is the second most expensive defender in Premier League history and no one is sat there saying he is a £72m Premier League defender. He is so good at defending, he reads the game really well and can do that central defender role, but it is his ability on the wing that makes him stand out."

Pike added: "We often say it and it is the repetitive thing of, it takes time under Pep Guardiola for a player to settle in. It wasn't that way for Haaland, but it was for so many of the key players that we have had like Rodri.

"But Gvardiol has had six months with Pep and his coaching team now and he has changed position as well. He was brought in as a centre-back but we have put him out really wide and really high at times.

"So I can't wait to see what he is going to be like. Can you imagine what he is going to be like in a year when he has had more time to work with Pep?"

  5. 'Nobody wants to lose a game'published at 12:02

    Ange PostecoglouImage source, Getty Images

"I'm wearing all Tottenham white right now," proclaimed former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott on BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club.

"I expect Manchester City to win but also expect Tottenham to go out there and perform. Being at their home ground, they'll want to perform. You want to be in good habits and I think Postecoglou will get them in good habits for next year."

There is much talk about how Tottenham will approach Tuesday's game against the champions, knowing were they to lose, they'd severely dent the title hopes of their great rivals Arsenal.

Monday Night Club's Chris Sutton famously went to Anfield when playing for Blackburn on the final day of the 1994-95 season, when talk was rife that Liverpool would slacken off in order for Sutton's team to beat Manchester United to the title.

Liverpool won the game 2-1 but Blackburn still clinched the title as Manchester United were unable to win at West Ham.

Sutton said: "Everybody thought because of the rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United, that Liverpool were going to chuck it basically. That was never going to be the case. We were really hoping they were going to chuck it, of course we were. But nobody wants to lose a game. You go out with the intention of winning. That will be the same for these Tottenham players.

"I get it as a Spurs supporter that they don't want Arsenal to win the league. It's a great game for a Tottenham fan as they go to the stadium and they can't lose in many respects - they end up beating City which is a feather in the cap and if they end up losing, Arsenal won't win the league."

  6. Tottenham v Man City: Pick of the statspublished at 12:00

Here are the key facts and figures before Tuesday's game between Tottenham and Manchester City in the Premier League.

    • Tottenham have won their past four Premier League home games against Manchester City without conceding a goal.

    • Under Pep Guardiola, City have lost more Premier League games against Spurs than against any other opponent (six).

    • Tottenham have lost their final home league game in two of the past three seasons, as many times as they had in their previous 17 campaigns (W13 D2).

    • Having won their final away league game in nine of the 10 seasons between 2010-11 and 2019-20, Manchester City have not done so for the past three campaigns (D1 L2). However, they had already won the title at the time of those two defeats - by Brighton in 2020-21 and Brentford last season.

    • Manchester City have won their past four Premier League away games, including the past three by an aggregate score of 10-0. Only once in their league history have they won four in a row on the road without conceding - in March/April 1903 in the second tier.

    • Tottenham's Dejan Kulusevski has been directly involved in five goals in his four Premier League games against Manchester City, more than he has versus any other opponent in the competition (three goals, two assists).

    • City goalkeeper Ederson could make his 250th Premier League appearance in this match. He has kept 112 clean sheets in his 249 games so far, with Petr Cech (127) and Pepe Reina (119) the only goalkeepers to record more in their first 250.

To absolutely no one’s surprise, the Manchester City juggernaut ploughed through London unchallenged. It was high octane stuff and not for the first time Josko Gvardiol was grabbing the limelight. The whole day seemed like a glorious parade heading towards the title.

Each week it could be any player making the difference for City. Your free scoring striker has an off day, no problem, the part-time left-back-come-winger will do the business.

The 22-year-old Croatian Gvardiol is at the start of what should be an epic career. Effortlessly brilliant at centre-back as a youngster, this move to left back/left winger could lead to anything.

Maybe Guardiola has him lined up as Rodri’s long-term replacement, that wouldn’t surprise me. Pep is like a chess player playing in multiple dimensions, including the future.

Most coaches would be happy with concentrating on winning a closely fought title race and maybe another FA Cup, the City boss takes it to other levels.

  8. 'When Rodri plays, City don’t lose'published at 09:05

    Nigel Rothband
    Fan writer

    Manchester City fan's voice graphic

I have attended every single Manchester City fixture at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, apart from this season’s FA Cup tie at the end of January when Nathan Ake squeezed in an 88th minute winner.

So, not only am I yet to see City win a game there, I’ve not been able to celebrate a single goal.

I did consider not attending Tuesday's fixture but that’s simply not an option for me. With two games to play and two victories needed to achieve a historic fourth league title in a row - I need to be there.

This week I received an email from the club asking for my nomination for City’s player of the year. Would my vote go to the already crowned Football Writers' player of the year Phil Foden or maybe last year’s winner, Erling Haaland, who’s top of the Premier League scoring charts again this season?

Both these players, of course, have been nominated for the prestigious Premier League Player of the Season Award too.

I had absolutely no hesitation in voting for Rodri; one of the most underrated Premier League players ever. It’s a disgrace that he has not been nominated.

He has had another brilliant season and he has so much influence in how City play. When he plays, City don’t lose.

Let's hope he plays on Tuesday and Sunday.

  11. Guardiola on injuries, Tottenham and pursuing something 'exceptional'published at 13:35 13 May

    Simon Stone
    Chief football news reporter

Pep Guardiola has spoken to the media before Manchester City's Premier League trip to Tottenham.

Here are the main lines from his news conference:

    • On injuries, Guardiola said: "Jack (Grealish) is recovered from his illness and Nathan (Ake) was much better yesterday. I don't think it's serious but it's just three days since the last game."

    • On his side never winning a league game at Spurs' new stadium: "We played really well many times but we were not able to score and win games. This is the time to do it. Otherwise, Arsenal will be champions."

    • On the pressure of having to win: "The mindset is easy because if we don't win, we don't win the Premier League. The right tension and focus has to be there. If we play these games relaxed, it's a big problem. They (Tottenham) are going to play for qualification for the Champions League. It is huge for them and we have a huge target as well."

    • On the prospect of becoming the first English club to win four consecutive titles: "We know what we are playing for, how difficult it is to be here. We have to do something special, exceptional I would say. We have something unique in front of us. There are a lot of things I enjoy, not just arriving at this stage of the season. There are 10 months where we work to get to this point."

  12. Your thoughts on Saturday's gamepublished at 12:27 13 May

    Your views image

We asked for your comments after Saturday's match between Fulham and Manchester City.

Here are some of your answers:

    Fulham fans

David: A good start from us but conceding a soft goal early on did not bode well. Always felt City could turn it on as needed. In the end we were just outclassed. City are that good I'm surprised they didn't win Eurovision song contest later that day.

Alex: I thought Fulham got off to a decent start, then five passes later we were a goal down. A good season for us but work needed in the summer to rebuild.

Eric: Garbage from the get-go. They never lifted their heads to have a good game. They were blitzed by a exceptional side for sure but Man City were made to look better due to a lacklustre Fulham.

Sew: Well, this result clearly shows Fulham did not take it seriously. They haven't taken this game seriously all week after opting to fly kites instead of working on their gameplan.

    Manchester City fans

Usama: That is what you call a complete performance. Controlled the game from start to finish and didn’t give Fulham any breathing space. Outstanding from every individual on the pitch. Hopefully Ake’s injury doesn’t keep him out. Only negative from the game was that Haaland chance. He’s got to bury that but he will get plenty more in the games to come.

Ian: A polished performance, Bernardo was exceptional in every respect, especially his one-touch passes and Josko Gvardiol finished like Haaland (usually does) - what greater compliment could I pay him?

Bob: We tired yet another side out and punished them in the second half. Still need to work on dealing with long balls behind the defence - fortunately Fulham were ultimately toothless in attack.

Major: They know how to win important matches. For the past three years, they have controlled their destiny.

  13. Heskey's Youth Cup bragging rightspublished at 10:45 13 May

When your dad made more than 700 professional appearances, played for Liverpool, Leicester, Birmingham, Wigan and Aston Villa in the Premier League, won the Uefa Cup, FA Cup and League Cup four times and played 62 times for England, getting football bragging rights over him is not easy.

But Manchester City youngster Jaden Heskey achieved exactly that with his goalscoring contribution to the 4-0 FA Youth Cup final win against Leeds on Friday night.

Emile Heskey never won the FA Youth Cup. Now his son has a prestigious medal to show him.

"It is something I will remember," he said. "He played in it for Leicester but I don't think he ever won it."

City were shown a motivational video by coach Ben Wilkinson in the build-up to the final, highlighting the stars who took their first significant steps in the game by winning the Youth Cup.

"I came out of that meeting proper pumped for it," added Heskey.

"It showed the Class of '92, the old City teams in the 80s that won it and all the players and where they've gone on to. Some are in the Champions League now like [Jadon] Sancho, [Felix] Nmecha and Brahim Diaz.

"That was good motivation to have before the game just to try and get yourself in history again."

  14. 'City have had problems there before'published at 09:30 13 May

James Maddison shields the ball from Bernardo SilvaImage source, Getty Images

Former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha believes it will be "very hard to pick against" his former side beating Tottenham on Tuesday, despite the venue.

Pep Guardiola's side lost on their first five visits in all competitions to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, without even scoring a goal, before finally ending their poor sequence with victory in this season's FA Cup in January.

"City have had problems there before," Onuoha told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast. "Obviously this year they broke their duck when they won there in the FA Cup, but as far as places to go where you have to get a win, I think it could be tough - but then this is a very motivated Manchester City side.

"For them to be this close, it's going to be very hard to pick against them, but I'm sure there are going to be a lot of Tottenham players and staff who will want to prove that wrong.

"It will feel at times almost like a cup tie. By the end of it, if City have drawn, it will feel like a defeat for them. The fact that City must win adds that element of the cliched 'cup finals at the end of the season'."

City will win a fourth consecutive Premier League title if they beat Spurs and West Ham in their final two games, and also have an FA Cup final against neighbours Manchester United to follow.

Onuoha added: "Three wins and you win the double - how exciting must that be, but also nerve-wracking as well?"
