MORNING LIVE is produced by BBC Studios for broadcast, use and exploitation by the BBC (the Commissioner). BBC Studios is the data controller and we are responsible for handling the personal information you provide, in accordance with data protection law.

This privacy notice applies to anyone who makes contact with MORNING LIVE.

What information we collect and how we use it

BBC Studios will collect and process your name, social media handle and contact details eg your email address (if you provide them) and any information you provide to us via email (morninglive@bbc.co.uk), WhatsApp (0800 320 1100), Twitter (@BBCMorning Live), Instagram (@bbcmorninglive), Facebook (bbcmorninglive) or post to Morning Live, BBC Bridge House, Blue, MediaCity UK, Salford M50 2BH. We will use this information to contact you if we are interested in finding out more with a view to including your story in the show. If we decide to use your contribution on the show, only your first name and town will be read out on air.

BBC Studios relies on its legitimate interests as a media organisation to process your personal information. We will not process your personal information where your rights override our interests.

The details you submit will come into our central MORNING LIVE production team. BBC Studios will not use your details for any other purpose without your consent and will not transfer your details to any third party without contacting you first.

Retaining your personal information

The information you have provided to us, or that is later collected in connection with MORNING LIVE, will be used by BBC Studios for purposes related to the production of this series. This may include sensitive information that you have provided or will be asked to provide at a later stage. We will only ask for this type of information if it is relevant in the context of your contribution such as assessing your fitness to participate in filming. BBC Studios will securely store the information you submit for a period of 7 years after broadcast of the programme. We do this in case we wish to contact you about your contribution for the programme or where necessary for related purposes, such as a possible repeat of the item to which you contributed.

If we decide not to take your contribution forward on MORNING LIVE your details will be deleted within 3 years. If you are selected to be part of a programme, BBC Studios and the commissioning broadcaster may retain some information relating to your contribution in perpetuity. If we believe that we may want to return to your story at a later date, we will retain your information (such as your submission, contact details and any other relevant information), for up to 7 years, in line with our retention schedule, unless you ask us not to.

If you subsequently wish us to delete your contact details, you can email us at morninglive@bbc.co.uk to request this.

If you provide information that is not relevant to MORNING LIVE your details will be deleted at the end of the series.

Sharing your information within BBC Studios and the BBC

Your personal information will generally be restricted to relevant members of the MORNING LIVE production team and crew, or as otherwise required by law. Where necessary, we may also share information with other BBC Studios staff, professional advisors and the BBC.
