Head teacher banned over child abuse images

A former head teacher who was jailed for sending indecent videos to a police officer posing as an underage girl has been permanently banned from teaching.

Paul Corrie, former headteacher at John Mason School in Abingdon, was jailed for a year in September 2022.

A Teaching Regulation Agency conduct review has now banned Corrie from ever teaching again.

The ban is subject to any appeal Corrie may choose to lodge.

The judgement means that Corrie is prohibited from teaching indefinitely and cannot teach in any school, sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation or children’s home in England.

Marc Cavey, who made the decision on behalf of education secretary Gilligan Keegan added: "Furthermore, in view of the seriousness of the allegations found proved against him, I have decided that Mr Corrie shall not be entitled to apply for restoration of his eligibility to teach."

Corrie had been deputy head teacher at Larkmead School in Abingdon, before being promoted to headteacher of John Mason in 2005.

He left the role in 2007, before moving to Fitzharrys school in the town - where he taught maths.

Corrie was sacked from his job at UTC Oxfordshire in Harwell in September 2021, following his arrest.

His convictions in 2022 included two counts of making indecent photographs of children, attempting/engaging in sexual communication with a child and causing a child under 13 to watch a sexual act.

He was jailed for a year.
