FolkEast seeks new home for 2025 festival

A folk festival will say goodbye to its home for the past 11 years after the estate was put up for sale.

The FolkEast festival will be held for the last time at Glemham Hall Estate near Woodbridge, Suffolk, from 15 to 18 August.

The 16th Century home and its estate was put on the market with a £19m price tag earlier this year.

Becky and John Marshall-Potter, the founders of FolkEast, said they were "investigating various possibilities" for a new site in 2025.

"It’s been a privilege to stage FolkEast at the great Glemham Hall Estate for the last 11 years and to be part of its history," they said.

"We have had many musical stars heading to Suffolk for the festival over the years but perhaps Glemham has been the biggest star of all providing us with a perfect site which has proved part and parcel of the event’s popularity.

“So we hope as many people as possible will come to help us celebrate our 12th year at this special place.

"As for the future we are investigating various possibilities - but there’s no doubt that FolkEast will be continuing."

On Monday, more names for England's most easterly folk festival were announced.

Bands and singers including The Dhol Foundation, Baskery and Katherine Priddy have been confirmed.
