Two men have been arrested after a woman died following a crash in the early hours of the morning.

Essex Police were called to the junction of Pipps Hill Road and Oak Road, Crays Hill, near Billericay, at about 00:40 BST on Thursday.

There were four people in the car when it crashed into a tree, and they were all taken to hospital. A 19-year-old woman from Romford has since died.

Police said a 19-year-old and a 25-year old had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The 25-year-old is also suspected of failing to stop at the scene.

The men, who sustained minor injuries, have been released on bail.

A police spokesperson urged anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
